Cycling
This page links to anything I've done or am planning on doing cycling related, I plan to feature rides I’ve Taken part in and enjoyed, rides I Plan to do and also film a few of the big climbs around my area so any non-Yorkshire Folk can decide whether or not there’s a challenge for them in our hills! (I can assure you there is)
In the spring and summer time I plan to visit the Dales and Surrounding area, taking in some of the big climbs from the Strava Top 100 climbs Book. (I highly recommend this, £9.99 from Waterstones) Included in the book Park rash ,Malham Cove and the famous and feared Chimney bank with a 33% gradient.
Previously myself and two friends spent a day in the Lake District following the Fred Whitton Route. Anyone who’s into cycling states the Fred Whitton as being the hardest Cycling challenge the UK has to offer. Unfortunately my Garmin 510 didn’t save the ride (Not its fault, user error!) so can’t show any of the data off this ride. What I can tell you though is the ride was epic and I hope to do it again soon. But I’d still rate it Second hardest after the Ronde Van Calderdale (more about that in the rides segment)
I'll also Cover some of the accidents I’ve had and what happened following this, and some tips and tricks on staying safer on the roads. Including good light recommendations to buy, what to avoid and other little ideas to make you more visible! What Happened in my accidents and what I had to do afterwards to replace my bike and make a claim for my Personal Injuries though the Car Insurance of the Driver
I commute 26 miles a day every day, wind, rain and snow! Why not follow me on strava (Matthew Kimber) if you want to keep up with my recent rides. I also recently bought a Camera for my bike, mainly for evidence purposes after 3 accidents in 2 years but also to film the rides I do for pleasure. This is a Garmin Virb with an official Garmin Mount off the Wiggle Website. I highly rate this camera filming at 1080p. I’ll go into this on more detail on its own section.
