A passionate gin encounter

Another Gin cocktail??! I'm on a roll, a month ago I hated the stuff now I've put my own twist on cocktails involving Gin I'm getting into it.

There are many famous cocktails that spring to mind and most of them use Vodka or Rum as the main spirit. I decided to start working with Gin and seeing what I could create. This cocktail uses the sweetness of the vanilla and Passoa to offset the bitter flavours in the Gin, it was a match made in heaven!

If like me you thought you hated Gin why not have a dig round in you cocktail cabinet and see what flavours you could try it with, gin doesn't always have to be with a tonic as I've been finding out recently

This drink is similar to the  Pornstar Martini that was originally created by Douglas Ankrah - who after a bit of research turns out to be a bit of a legend in the cocktail world! However this cocktail has a slightly less bitter aftertaste as it doesn't involve the lime juice that's in the Pornstar

How to make a Passionate Gin Encounter
The ingredients are all mixed together in a cocktail shaker, there's no real fancy equipment needed for this one. If you don't have Galliano, you can either buy it via the image below or substitute it for vanilla flavouring.

You could also add a little fizz with some soda water or even a cheeky shot of Prosecco like they do with the Pornstar Martini

Directions

  1. Cut 2 passion fruit in half, scoop the pulp from 1 and add to cocktail shaker
  2. Add ice to the Gin Glass
  3. Add the Gin, Passoa and Vanilla and shake to mix
  4. Strain into a Gin Glass
  5. Top up glass with Champagne, Prosecco or Soda Water
  6. Add the half passion fruit for decoration.
